The Gym Near Croftfoot Where Beginners Belong

A proper coach-led gym, just up the road from Croftfoot

If you live in Croftfoot and you have been putting off joining a gym because you feel unfit, hear this loud and clear: you come here to get fit and strong, not the other way about. The Training Academy Glasgow sits on Drakemire Drive in Castlemilk, a short hop from Croftfoot, and it is built for everyday people, not fitness models.

Owner Patrick McVey and his team of qualified coaches lead every session. You are never left wandering about wondering what to do with a dumbbell. From the moment you walk in, a coach is guiding you, correcting your technique and cheering on every bit of effort. Complete beginners get the biggest welcome of all.

One structured programme, not a random collection of classes

The whole week at The Training Academy is one joined-up programme, designed by the coaching team so every session builds on the last. Strength development is the foundation, because getting stronger is what makes everything else in life easier, from carrying the shopping up the stairs to keeping up with the kids.

Around that strength work you will find circuit classes to get the heart going, Hyrox training if you fancy a challenge, and Pilates to keep you moving well. You do not need to plan any of it yourself. Just turn up, follow the coaches, and the programme takes care of the rest.

Nutrition guidance included, so the whole picture makes sense

Training is only half the story, so membership includes nutritional guidance to help you fuel the work you are putting in. No fads, no starving yourself, just sensible advice that fits real life in the Southside.

Every week you will also get an email packed with food advice, explanations of what you are doing in training and why, plus video demonstrations so you can see exactly how the movements should look. It is like having a coach in your pocket between sessions.

Sessions 7 days a week, including 6am starts

Life around Croftfoot does not run nine to five, and neither do we. Sessions kick off at 6am Monday to Friday, with evenings and weekends covered too, seven days a week. Shift workers love it here because there is always a session that fits, whatever your rota looks like this week.

Fancy bringing your other half or a pal? Partners and friends are welcome to train together, and honestly, having someone beside you makes those early starts a lot easier and a lot more fun.
