A Female-Only Gym Near Anniesland That Actually Feels Like Yours

Not Your Typical Gym, And Proudly So

If the word gym makes you think of mirrors, machines and being left to figure it all out on your own, we get it. Strength In Sisterhood was built to be the opposite of that. We are a female-only gym just up the road from Anniesland at 26 Lochburn Rd in Maryhill, and everything we do is centred on small group personal training with real coaching behind it.

That means no wandering around wondering what to do next, no feeling watched, and no pressure to already be fit before you walk in. You get a structured programme, a coach who knows your name and your goals, and a small group of women training alongside you who genuinely want to see you do well.

Easy To Reach From Anniesland

We know plenty of women in Anniesland who have tried the big commercial gyms nearby and quietly stopped going. Not because they did not care, but because nobody there cared about them. Our gym is a short journey from Anniesland, sitting just off Maryhill Road at Lochburn Rd, G20 9AQ, so you can fit sessions around work, school runs and everything else life throws at you.

Because our sessions are small group personal training rather than open-floor chaos, your time here is used well. You turn up, your coach has your session ready, and you leave knowing exactly what you achieved. For busy women travelling over from Anniesland, that structure makes all the difference.

Every Fitness Level, Zero Judgement

Some of our members had never lifted a weight before joining. Others came to us after years of stop-start gym memberships that never stuck. Wherever you are starting from, you belong here. Our coaches scale every session to you, so a complete beginner and a more experienced member can train in the same group and both be challenged at the right level.

There is no judgement about your weight, your fitness, your age or how long it has been since you last exercised. The only thing we ask is that you show up. We handle the rest, and the other women in your group will be cheering you on rather than sizing you up.

More Than A Gym: Confidence, Community, Belonging

Our name is not an accident. Strength In Sisterhood is about what happens when women support women. Yes, you will get stronger, fitter and more capable. But the thing our members talk about most is the confidence that spills over into the rest of their lives, and the friendships they never expected to find at a gym.

Accountability is baked into how we work. Small groups mean you are missed when you are not there, in the best possible way. Your coach checks in, your training sisters notice, and slowly showing up stops being a battle and starts being something you look forward to. Real coaching, real community, real results. We build confidence, not just bodies.

Frequently asked questions

Is Strength In Sisterhood really women only?

Yes, completely. Our gym is female only, which is a big part of why our members feel comfortable enough to push themselves. It is a judgement-free space where you can train without feeling watched or compared.

I have never trained before. Will I keep up?

Absolutely. Small group personal training means a coach is guiding every session and adapting exercises to your level. Beginners are very welcome, and many of our members started with no gym experience at all.

How far are you from Anniesland?

We are at 26 Lochburn Rd in Maryhill, Glasgow, G20 9AQ, just off Maryhill Road. It is a short journey from Anniesland, so sessions are easy to fit in before work, after the school run or in the evening.

What makes this different from a normal commercial gym?

You are never left on your own. Every session is coached, every programme is structured, and the groups are small enough that your coach and training partners actually know you. It is accountability and support rather than a swipe-in, swipe-out membership.

What should I do if I am nervous about my first session?

That is completely normal, and most of our members felt exactly the same before their first visit. Get in touch before you come, tell us where you are starting from, and we will make sure your first session is welcoming, manageable and at your pace.
