The Female-Only Gym Just Minutes From Summerston

A gym where you actually belong

If the word gym makes you think of mirrors, machines and people who seem to know exactly what they are doing while you hover awkwardly by the treadmills, we get it. Strength In Sisterhood was built to be the opposite of that. We are a female-only gym at 26 Lochburn Rd in Maryhill, a short hop from Summerston, and everything we do is about making you feel like you belong from the moment you walk in.

There are no egos here, no judgement and no pressure to look a certain way. Just women of all ages, shapes and fitness levels training together, cheering each other on and getting genuinely stronger. We like to say we build confidence, not just bodies, and we mean it.

Small group personal training, not a big empty gym floor

We specialise in small group personal training. That means you get the structure and attention of a personal trainer, in a small group of women who quickly start to feel like your people. Every session is coached properly, so you are never left guessing what to do or whether your form is right.

This works brilliantly if you have ever joined a commercial gym, gone a handful of times and quietly let the membership lapse. With us there is a plan, a coach who knows your name and your goals, and a group who notice when you turn up. That accountability is often the missing piece.

Easy to reach from Summerston

You will find us on Lochburn Road in Maryhill, just down the road from Summerston. Whether you are coming from Summerston station, driving over from the Balmore Road side or walking down through Maryhill, we are only a few minutes away, close enough to fit training around work, kids and everything else life throws at you.

Lots of our members are local women from Summerston, Maryhill, Gilshochill and the surrounding G20 area, which is a big part of why the community here feels so genuine. Train with us for a few weeks and you will start bumping into familiar faces at the school gates and the shops.

Every fitness level welcome, honestly

Whether you have never lifted a weight in your life, you are coming back after having a baby, or you have been training for years and want proper coaching, you will fit in here. Sessions are scaled to you, so you are always working at a level that challenges you without leaving you broken.

The women who thrive here are not the ones who arrive fittest. They are the ones who keep showing up, and our job as coaches is to make showing up the easy part. Real coaching, real community, real results. That is the whole idea.

Frequently asked questions

Is Strength In Sisterhood really women only?

Yes, completely. We are a female-only gym, which means the training floor, the coaching and the community are all built by and for women. For a lot of our members that is exactly what makes it possible to relax, focus and actually enjoy training.

I am a complete beginner and quite nervous. Is this for me?

Absolutely, and you would be in good company. Many of our members arrived nervous, having never set foot in a gym or having had bad experiences elsewhere. Because sessions are small and coached, you are guided through everything step by step. Nobody is left to figure it out alone.

What is small group personal training?

It sits between one-to-one personal training and big fitness classes. You train in a small group with a coach who plans your sessions, watches your technique and adjusts exercises to your level. You get proper personal attention, plus the motivation and camaraderie of training alongside other women.

Where exactly are you, and how far is it from Summerston?

We are at 26 Lochburn Rd, Maryhill, Glasgow, G20 9AQ. That puts us just a few minutes from Summerston, whether you drive, walk or come by train, so it is easy to slot sessions in before work, after the school run or in the evening.

How is this different from a normal commercial gym?

At a typical gym you get a swipe card and an induction, then you are on your own. Here, every session is coached, there is a structured plan behind your training, and the community genuinely knows you. You are joining a sisterhood that keeps you accountable, not paying for access to equipment you might never use.
