A Women's Gym Near Possil Park That Actually Feels Like Yours

Not Your Average Gym, And Proudly So

If you have ever walked into a big commercial gym and felt invisible, or worse, watched, you are not alone. Plenty of women in Possil Park and across north Glasgow tell us the same thing: they want to train, they want to feel stronger, but the standard gym experience just does not work for them.

Strength In Sisterhood is different on purpose. We are a female-only gym at 26 Lochburn Rd in Maryhill, a short trip from Possil Park, and everything we do is built around one idea: women train better when they feel like they belong. No mirrors full of posers, no confusing machines you are left to figure out alone, no judgement about where you are starting from.

Small Group Personal Training, Real Coaching

We specialise in small group personal training, which sits in the sweet spot between a personal trainer and a big class. You get proper coaching, a real programme with structure, and eyes on your form every session, but you also train alongside a small group of women who are cheering you on rather than sizing you up.

Every session is coached, not just supervised. That means technique gets corrected, weights get progressed when you are ready, and nobody gets left standing around wondering what to do next. Whether you have never lifted a dumbbell or you are coming back after years away from training, the coaching meets you where you are.

Handy for Possil Park and the Rest of North Glasgow

Our gym sits on Lochburn Road in Maryhill, G20 9AQ, which makes us an easy option if you live in Possil Park. You are looking at a short drive or bus ride across the canal, and for a lot of members it is walkable too. Close enough that getting here never becomes the excuse.

We have members from Possil Park, Maryhill, Ruchill and beyond, and honestly, that local community feel is part of what makes the place work. You will start recognising faces fast, and before long the women you train with become the reason you keep showing up.

Confidence First, Everything Else Follows

Our whole ethos is building confidence, not just bodies. Yes, you will get stronger and fitter, and yes, you will see results. But the thing our members talk about most is how they feel: walking taller, saying yes to things they used to avoid, and finally feeling at home in a gym.

That is where the sisterhood part comes in. Accountability here is not an app pinging you. It is real women who notice when you have not been in and genuinely want you back. It is celebrating someone's first press up as loudly as someone's heaviest deadlift. If you are in or around Possil Park and you have been waiting for a gym that feels like it was made for you, come and see us.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the gym and how do I get there from Possil Park?

We are at 26 Lochburn Rd, Maryhill, Glasgow, G20 9AQ. From Possil Park it is a short journey across to the Maryhill side, easily doable by car, bus or on foot depending on where you are. Get in touch and we will happily talk you through the easiest route from your bit.

I have never trained in a gym before. Will I be out of my depth?

Not at all, and you would be in good company. Lots of our members started as complete beginners. Because every session is coached in small groups, you are shown everything from scratch and progressed at your own pace. Nobody is thrown in the deep end.

Is it really women only?

Yes, Strength In Sisterhood is a female-only gym. It is a deliberate choice so that every woman who trains with us feels comfortable, supported and free to focus on herself without any of the awkwardness that puts so many women off mixed gyms.

What is small group personal training and how is it different from a class?

In a typical class, one instructor demonstrates and everyone follows along. In small group personal training you follow a structured programme with a coach actively watching your technique, adjusting weights and tailoring things to you. It is closer to having a personal trainer, shared with a small group of supportive women.

I am unfit and a bit nervous. Is this gym really for someone like me?

Honestly, you are exactly who we built this place for. We work with women of all fitness levels and the culture is completely judgement free. The nerves usually disappear within the first session or two, and most members say they wish they had come sooner.
