The Ladies Gym in Maryhill Where You Actually Belong
A Female-Only Gym That Feels Nothing Like a Gym
If you have ever walked into a big commercial gym and felt invisible, intimidated or completely out of place, you are not alone. That feeling is exactly why Strength In Sisterhood exists. We are a ladies gym on Lochburn Road in Maryhill, built for women who want real coaching and real support, not a swipe-in swipe-out membership where nobody knows your name.
SIS is female-only, judgement-free and deliberately informal. There are no mirrors full of posers, no confusing machines you are left to figure out alone, and no pressure to look a certain way before you even start. Whether you have trained for years or have never lifted a weight in your life, you will be met exactly where you are.
Small Group Personal Training, Not a Free-For-All
Everything we do is built around small group personal training. That means you get the structure and attention of working with a coach, alongside a small group of women who are on the same journey. Your sessions are planned for you, your technique is coached properly, and someone actually notices when you show up and when you do not.
That accountability is the difference. Most women do not fail at fitness because they are lazy. They fail because they were handed a membership card and left to work it all out on their own. At SIS, you are never on your own. You get a plan, a coach and a group of women cheering you on every step of the way.
More Than a Gym: Confidence, Community and Sisterhood
Our name is not an accident. Strength In Sisterhood is about what happens when women support each other instead of competing with each other. The friendships made here are as important as anything that happens with a barbell. Women arrive nervous on day one and end up part of a community that genuinely has their back.
We say we build confidence, not just bodies, and we mean it. Yes, you will get stronger and fitter. But the thing our members talk about most is how they carry themselves differently outside the gym: at work, at home, and in the mirror. That is the real result.
Easy to Find in the Heart of Maryhill
You will find us at 26 Lochburn Rd, Maryhill, Glasgow, G20 9AQ. We are right in the heart of the community, easy to reach from across Maryhill and the surrounding parts of north Glasgow, whether you are coming from Gilshochill, Summerston, Ruchill or along Maryhill Road.
Being local matters to us. This is not a faceless chain dropped into the area. SIS is part of Maryhill, and the women who train here live, work and raise families right here. Training close to home also makes it far easier to stay consistent, which is where the results really come from.
New to Training? You Are Exactly Who We Built This For
A lot of women put off joining a gym because they feel they need to get fit first. Please do not do that. Every single member here started somewhere, and plenty started nervous, unfit or recovering from years of putting everyone else first. There is no judgement here, only support.
Because our sessions are coached in small groups, every exercise can be adapted to your level. You will never be thrown in at the deep end or made to feel like the odd one out. If you are ready to feel stronger, more confident and part of something, get in touch and come see the place for yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Is Strength In Sisterhood really women only?
Yes, SIS is a completely female-only gym. Every session, coach interaction and community event is women only, so you can train in a space that feels safe, relaxed and free of judgement.
I have never been to a gym before. Will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Small group personal training means every session is coached and every exercise can be scaled to your level. Many of our members had never trained before joining, and beginners are genuinely welcome here.
What is small group personal training and how is it different from classes?
In a typical class, everyone does the same thing regardless of ability. In small group personal training, a coach works closely with a small number of women, adjusting exercises to suit each person. You get personal attention, proper technique coaching and a structured plan, with the added motivation of training alongside others.
Where exactly is the gym and is it easy to get to?
We are at 26 Lochburn Rd, Maryhill, Glasgow, G20 9AQ. The location is easy to reach from across Maryhill and nearby areas of north Glasgow, whether you are travelling by car, bus or on foot.
Do I need to be a certain fitness level or lose weight before joining?
Not at all. You do not need to get fit before you start, that is what we are here for. Women of all ages, sizes and fitness levels train at SIS, and everyone is met exactly where they are, with zero judgement.
